400 new jobs coming to Kings Mountain
11/19/2009
Mayor Rick Murphrey announced a major trucking operation is re-locating to Kings Mountain and will provide over 400 jobs. Bell Lines Inc. LLC owner, Charles T. Lohr has bought the former Carolina Western 4 acre trucking center on Charles Street. He expects to be in full production next year, with a multi-million dollar investment in the property and over 200 trucks which will carry airline and commercial freight throughout the South.
“This is like an early Christmas gift for the City of Kings Mountain with Mr. Lohr’s vision” stated Mayor Murphrey. “Not only jobs for truck drivers but also in office/ administrative support and garage maintenance personnel. Our area has suffered with high unemployment and we now have the opportunity to reverse a 15% unemployment rate” added the Mayor.
Additional jobs are also coming to Kings Mountain with the opening of QualTech Industries. Currently refurbishing and re-equipping their facility, the soon to be open machine shop will bring 30 more jobs to the City.
