The City of Kings Mountain has a manager/council form of government. City Council is the policy making and legislative body of city government and includes a Mayor and seven Council members.
The City Manager is appointed by the Council and is responsible for carrying out the policies and ordinances of the Council and administering the daily operations and programs of the City through appointed department and staff members. The City Manager also prepares and submits the annual budget.
Assistant City Manager
The Assistant City Manager is appointed by the City Manager and is responsible for assisting the manager as needed. The primary focus of the Assistant City Manager lies within the Cities Utilities. The Assistant City Manager will also assume the roll of City Manager in their absence.
The City Clerk gives notice of meetings of the governing body, keeps a journal of the proceedings of the governing body, be the custodian of all city records and shall perform any other duties that may be required by law or the governing body.
The Deputy Clerk has full authority to exercise and perform any of the powers and duties of the City Clerk that may be specified by the governing body.
