Jimmy West is a native of Gaston County, however he has lived in Kings Mountain most of his life. He graduated from Kings Mountain, and obtained his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Cleveland Community College. He joined the Kings Mountain Police Department in 1980 and served there until 1990 before joining the Gastonia Police Department where he served until his retirement in 2009. While at the Gastonia Police Department Jimmy served in multiple jobs and divisions such as the Traffic Unit, Swat Team, Youth Detective, K-9 Supervisor, and Sergeant in the Detective Division. Jimmy is currently employed by Gaston College where he serves as a Police Officer on the campus police department.
Jimmy lives in the Hall Crossing neighborhood with his wife Pam of 31 years. They have one son Tyler, who serves as a Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Officer. Jimmy and Pam attend First Wesleyan Church of Kings Mountain.
