To see Rob Wagman's marketing prowess in action, you don't have to look too far past the execution of his election campaign for Mayor of Kings Mountain; which took a man whose name few knew in July of 2023 to winning the election only four months later.
With a storied 40+ year career in media, marketing, journalism, broadcasting and radio, it was always his knack for events, marketing and promotion that set Rob Wagman apart from his competition, reaching numerous milestones achieved by few, including working and thriving in all three of the biggest markets in America; New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.
iHeartRadio transferred Wagman from LA to Charlotte in 2004, where he'd cross paths with Kings Mountain's Sarah Lee Owensby, first becoming her manager, then after both of them enjoyed successes in Charlotte, New York, Tampa and a return to Los Angeles, they married in 2012 and set up their business in Nashville.
Wagman's consultancy, Straight Path Media + Marketing survived and strengthened during the tumultuous and devastating downsizing of the broadcast industry, with Rob finding his skillset in higher demand than in any other time in his career, allowing him to leave the day-to-day of corporate media in 2017.
Sarah Lee returned to the airwaves of Charlotte in 2018 and the couple moved back to Kings Mountain, where Rob fell in love with the city through the passion the residents display for high school sports.
Wagman says, "When you witness a program built by a resident, KM Elite, at the heart of the success of sports in this town, with the synergy of the business community pouring into the Touchdown Club, you get a glimpse of the grit this town is made of, and with our high school sports being an area where Kings Mountain succeeds, it gives us a great starting point of where to build future successes from. Success breeds success, but without a real plan, we, as a town, have not been able to build many blocks on top of the success which already exists. It is my goal to change this."
Rob Wagman was sworn in as Mayor of Kings Mountain on December 12th, 2023.
